Sometimes the best wedding photos happen in the most unexpected places, even next to a parking lot! As a Cleveland wedding photographer, I’ve learned that wedding days rarely go exactly as planned, and that’s completely okay. On Chris and Mary’s wedding day, their newlywed portrait session was originally scheduled at a popular nearby location. But the day had other ideas, and we were left with about 20 minutes for their newlywed portraits.

Working with what we had, I started scouting around the St. Demetrios Cultural Center, their reception venue, and noticed a small, shady patch of green lawn right next to the parking lot. I’ll admit, I was a little nervous, but sometimes a little creativity goes a long way! With the light hitting perfectly and Chris and Mary full of laughter, that simple spot became the perfect backdrop for their wedding portraits.

This experience is a reminder that you don’t need grand locations or elaborate setups to capture timeless wedding portraits. All you really need is good light, a couple who’s truly in love, and a little creativity. Even a small patch of grass or an overlooked corner can result in timeless, joyful images when photographed with care.
